Young people would get more help under an NDP government according to Jagmeet Singh.
The party leader says on top of addressing gangs and drug-related crime by investing in the RCMP, he will also work to keep young people on a good path.
He says experts, community organizations, and families who have lost loved ones are urging him to take action.
“They want to see some change, they want to see young people have a brighter future. We want to invest directly into youth programs–$100 million to help out with things like after-school programs, with youth drop-in centres, just to help and provide supports for youth so they have a brighter future.”
Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has unveiled the party’s platform during a campaign event at University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus on Sunday.
“We will make your life more affordable, and we will make out streets safer and we will fight climate change that is what we stand for as a party and as a movement. And we’re staying focused on you, because the Conservatives certainly aren’t,” Trudeau says.
The Liberals promise to lower phone bills, offer better financial support for students, ban military weapons across the country and continue to do more for the environment.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Green Party Leader Elizabeth May spoke about automation and artificial intelligence, while Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer took the day off.
