The push is on to bring junior A hockey back to St. Stephen, N.B.
A rally to drive support is being held over the weekend and Mayor Allan MacEachern encourages everyone to come out and bring their friends.
He’s part of the organizing committee, a group of people who were associated with the Aces, the club which left in the spring after being sold.
“We have some very serious investors and they need to see the want and the need for this junior A level hockey in our area. We need to get the numbers there. We need to show them that we want this team, we want it back.” MacEachern said.
MacEachern says the attendees won’t have to stay long.
Residents can support the effort financially by contributing $25 per person but, MacEachern says this is optional and refundable.
“I don’t think we are going to pressure anyone to do that at the rally but, that will be talked about. Definitely refundable if it doesn’t happen but, if it does it would go towards your season tickets for sure.” MacEachern said.
The rally is happening on Sunday night at the Garcelon Civic Centre in St. Stephen, N.B. at 6:30 p.m.
