Premier Blaine Higgs has outlined his government’s priorities in what is being called a Roadmap for the Future of New Brunswick.
In a news conference Tuesday, he outlined six key areas: world-class education, affordable and responsible government, energize the private sector, dependable public health care, vibrant and sustainable communities, and high-performing organization.
Higgs says they will be calling on the 53 thousand members of the civil service to provide input.
“Listen to their ideas and make it happen. The volatility that the civil service, our province, has experienced over the many generations is what is making us not move forward. It is the very thing that is killing our success,” stated Higgs.
Another priority is the education system, which Higgs admits is not doing well when it comes to testing stats.
“The last check we were 8th in the country and that is not going to continue. We have classrooms that are no longer learning centres, we have teachers that have decided to check out because they are frustrated with their inability to deliver on the passion when they went through university and when they became teachers,” he said.
