David Duplisea shared his experience telling the crowd about getting the diagnosis in the midst of another health crisis.
He says he was already emotionally and physically beat up as he was quite ill with Crohn’s and Colitis and a number of other health issues.
“I was down to 90 pounds when I found out that I had cancer. That solved a lot of the questions that were out there and the issues.” Duplisea said.

Instead of relying solely on narcotics for pain management, Duplisea chose to use medical cannabis to help following surgery for prostate cancer.
“So I did get a prescription for it. Started exploring with CBD and THC in the edible forms since I don’t smoke. Through that experimental process, I found it was decreasing my reliance and I could go a day at a time kind of thing.” Duplisea said.
Duplisea says men’s health needs to be discussed at an early age and if we don’t spread the message of early detection, we are betting against our fathers, sons, brothers and friends.
“One in seven men will be diagnosed in Canada and if it’s not caught early, three out of four will die,” Duplisea said.
According to Prostate Cancer Canada, when detected early, the survival rate of prostate cancer can be close to 100 percent.
