A new speed limit is being put in place on one of St. George’s busiest downtown streets.
The town is reducing the speed on Main Street and Brunswick Street from 50 km an hour to 35.
The new speed limit will affect a strip of road from an elementary school to a community centre, in an effort to make the area safer.
The town’s council says this is just one of many initiatives aiming to create safer streets. They plan to install better crosswalk lights along Main Street, and put in a handicap parking spot downtown.
Motorists are advised to be attentive over the coming weeks, and pay attention to the new signs and speed zones.
