The People’s Alliance Party, which has three MLAs elected in this province, is looking to the future after an annual general meeting was held on the weekend.
Leader Kris Austin says the party has come along way since its inception.
“For the first time in our history we’ve actually had an election of officers, 25 individuals around the province put their name forward and 14 of them were elected to the board,” stated Austin.
They also had a number of guest speakers that covered some interesting topics, including bilingualism.
Austin said, “Sue Rickard, who is a Social Policy Analyst, spoke about education and the importance for reform in our education system.”
“She was quite critical of the immersion program and our inability as a province I guess to educate our children in a second language,” stated Austin.
The other speakers covered the issue of forestry management and the importance of social media and the role it plays in getting out the party message.
