Motorcycle riders from across Canada and the US are expected to attend this year’s Atlanticade event.
This is the 13th annual event and the 5th year they’ve partnered with the Rotary Ribfest.
Dale Hicks, chairman of the Atlanticade motorcycle festival says it’s a great way for bikers to experience some Maritime hospitality.
“We take them on guided tours. We run them down through Alma and Fundy Park. We take them along the coast and to La Pay De La Sagouine and down to Shediac and the Pointe du Chene wharf for an event on Thursday night. We have lots of events and lots of opportunities for the locals tom engage with others from outside the region. So lots of new friendships.”
Every year, they raise money for a variety of local charities.
Hicks says, “Bikers are know for contributing to charities. This year we have the Food Depot Alimentaire and Muscular Dystrophy. Every year we always do something to support the veterans. We’ll take donations for the legions at the events. One nigh, we will have a band playing at Caseley Park. At 6 o’clock there will be some laying of the wreaths. Then, there will be another event at Legion number 6.”
This year they will also have an event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
Atlanticade is open to the general public and will be held from June 20th to the 23rd at Riverfront park.
