Reserve Street between Rothesay Avenue and Thorne will soon have a new name.
Council approved the request to change the name to ‘G. Arrowsmith Way,’ in honour of a deceased long-time business owner on the street.
Gerald Arrowsmith Sr. owned and operated Saint John Spring Works Ltd. for 60 years, a truck repair shop celebrating 100 years in business this year.
Arrowsmith also fought in the Second World War, and was a member of the New Brunswick Symphony for five years.
The city says the cost to change the name is minimal—$150 just to change out the signs.
Other businesses on the street said they are very supportive of the change.
