The City of Saint John, during a special meeting of Common Council on Monday evening, unanimously approved a global settlement with Port City Water Partners for a number of claims from the Safe Clean Drinking Water Project.
Mayor Don Darling says the project team has done a very good job with this.
“Rather than have an elongated dispute and legal claims and things that can go on for years our project team has been able to settle this at a substantial discount.
How substantial a discount is it? Mayor Darling says very.
” A payment of $1.64 million to the partner in the project to settle $22 million worth of outstanding claims and any future claims.”
This means the massive project worth more than 200 million dollars will come in on time and more importantly on budget according to the Mayor.
