Former Saint John Mayor Mel Norton has been named the chairperson of WorkSafeNB’s board of directors.
It’s a five-year term and it could be extended.
Acting chairperson Haley Flaro calls Norton a proven leader with a wealth of experience and strong governance skills.

Outside of his political life, Norton has also served on the boards of the Abby St. Andrews Mixed-Income Housing Project and the Saint John Theatre Company.
Flaro has noticed a substantial and positive shift in WorkSafeNB over the past year.
Flaro adds this change is the combined result of the recommendations made by the task force committee and the Auditor General, the passing of critical legislative amendments, and the leadership of WorkSafe NB’s CEO Douglas Jones.
