For the second year in a row, the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will be shutting down a portion of the Trans-Canada Highway due to flooding.
Department officials say the highway will be closed to thru traffic between Exit 306 at Oromocto and Exit 423 at River Glade as of 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Drivers travelling between Fredericton and Moncton will have to take a detour through Saint John via Routes 1 and 7. The detour will add about 90 kilometres to a one-way trip.

As of early Wednesday, officials had to close one lane of traffic on the highway in the Jemseg area as floodwaters rose up onto the road.
