The hockey world is remembering the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash in Saskatchewan a year ago today.
Bill Chow, the president of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, says it will be a tough day for many.
“I just hope that the 29 families are given some space and allowed to do their things in whichever way they see fit,” he said.
The league president says they are giving all teams the space to remember the deaths of the 16 team members by not holding a games on April 6th.
“We have no games scheduled for April the 6th ever, other than that, the Humboldt Broncos have organized their memorial service,” said Chow.
Family members of the 29 people involved in the crash and nearly 3,000 members of the public are expected to gather at the Elgar Petersen arena in Humboldt today for the service.
The hockey team bus crash killed 16 and injured 13 last year when it was hit by a truck.
