The grounding of 737 MAX 8 and 9 Aircraft by the federal Transportation Minister Marc Garneau will not have any major impact in this province.
Jacques Fournier is the Director of Commercial Development for The Saint John Airport and he says this type of jet does not use YSJ. In fact, no airport in New Brunswick utilizes the 737 MAX 8 or 9.
“We don’t see the 737 MAX 8, but we do see the 737- 800 from Sunwing once a week, stated Fournier.
“For Air Canada, we see the Q-400s, the same for Porter Airlines and Sunwing for the market we have and the range that an aircraft needs to get into all the islands in the Caribbean, the 800 is the perfect aircraft for our market,” says Fournier.
If you do have a trip already booked you should consult with your air carrier to make sure any connecting flights are re-booked on different aircraft due to the grounding of the MAX 8.
