It was October of 2012 when Josh Boyle from Perth-Andover or someone using his bank card made a withdrawal from his account at an ATM in Kabul, Afghanistan. That was the last anyone heard from him or about him in any verifiable way.
The day before, he sent an email to his family in Ottawa from an internet cafe south of the capital saying he was not in a safe place.
A video has now been released by the Taliban showing Boyle and his wife who says her two children born in captivity have seen her defiled.
Both Boyle and his wife, who was born in the U.S., are heard begging the American and Canadian governments to negotiate their release. The federal government is calling for their unconditional release.
