The last few weeks have felt like winter in New Brunswick but the official start of the season occurs at 6:44 this morning.
The winter solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year.
Environment Canada meteorologist Andy Firth says winter will get off to a quiet start today but snow or mixed precipitation is possible tomorrow.
“light snow developing Thursday evenign which could change to rain alonmg the Fundy coast and near the Nova Scotia border,” he notes.
Firth says about 10 cm of snow is possible tomorrow and despite some rain on Christmas Eve, he adds in all likelihood most of New Brunswick can expect a White Christmas this year.
