The quick thinking of an off duty police officer in Shediac, means two golden retrievers are home safe with their owners.
The dogs got stuck on the ice on Saturday near a bridge, close to the big lobster.
When Constable Carl Champagne spotted them, he called his colleagues and volunteer firefighters to help.
While waiting for the others to arrive, he managed to get one of the dogs to shore.
Volunteer firefighters had to go into the water to rescue the other dog.
The two dogs were then dried off and warmed up at the Shediac RCMP detachment, and then returned to their very thankful owners.
