City Manager Jeff Trail says there is only one question mark left before the 2017 city budget is ready for approval next Monday.
Deputy Mayor Shirley McAlary isn’t happy at the way the city is deciding who gets grant money which totals $179 thousand next year.
She questions whether Cherry Brook Zoo should be receiving $50 thousand considering the litigation involving Len and Linda Collrin in the aftermath of their dismissal last summer. McAlary says the city has no idea where that stands and she wouldn’t like to see taxpayer money going to pay the zoo’s legal bills.
McAlary says the city is given requests for funding but with no information about their operating budgets and just granting organisations taxpayer dollars because it was done the year before is not a good enough reason.
