The donations are climbing as the Concerned Citizens of Charlotte County move towards creating an independant board to run the Charlotte County Hospital, and challenge the government to take control away from Horizon Health. Co-chair of the group, John Gardner says the donations also include pledges from local municipalities, such as Campobello Island. He says right now they are looking to hire a consultant to put together the framework documents, “The cost of that is about $10,000. Now at the same time we also have a law firm out of Nova Scotia that is interested in taking on the case pro bono, so that would be one cost that we wouldn’t have to take on. But it is something that we are going to require some funding for from the public.” Gardner wants to clarify it would not be the Concerned Citizens group running the hospital, but a group of qualified, local residents from across the county, who are on the board based on a number of different factors, such as healthcare and business experience, that make them qualified to run a hospital. If you are interested in donating to the cause, a bank account has ben set up at the BMO in St. Stephen on Milltown Blvd. The account number is 8986 647.
