A staple of Maritime television is now available on your book shelf.
Joan McElman has been host of Eastlink Television’s popular cooking show, Welcome to my Kitchen, for over 33 years.
She’s written her first book named after the program.
She says she wanted to share recipes that could turn into great meals across the Maritimes.
“Because my husband flew for the military for 35 years we collected a lot of different ethnic recipes. There is a lot of choice in the book as to what you want to cook.”
She says she has a few favourites in the book like her sweet and spicy cashew chicken, cabbage rolls and apple dumplings.
McElman says cooking is an art that she thoroughly enjoys.
“I love taking a piece of meat or a head of lettuce or whatever and creating something that’s not only pretty to look at but lovely to taste.”
The book is available at local book stores.
