Students in New Brunswick are proposing what they call comprehensive reforms to post secondary education.
The Executive-Director of the New Brunswick Student Alliance Robert Burroughs says they would like to see a sliding scale with what has come to be called the free tuition program so students from higher income families who make more than $60 thousand aren’t left out entirely. Burroughs says there would be a cap on the yearly income above which there would be no financial break.
The Student Alliance is not in favour of free tuition being extended to those students who attend private colleges and learning institutions.
The students are also calling for the province to put more money into mental health and increase funding for universities.
