The second degree murder trial of 36 year old Matthew Tucker heard about the day he asked to see a psychiatrist in Oromocto, the day before his mother disappeared. Tucker is accused of killing 53 year old Dorothy Tucker of Oak Haven, outside St. Stephen.
The trial was told Tucker flagged down the RCMP and asked officers to take him to the hospital to see a psychiatrist.
He told police about being scared after seeing some creature behind his house that was neither an animal nor human.
Constable Valerie Caron asked him why he started crying every time he spoke about his mother but Tucker didn’t give an answer. She later spoke by phone to his mother who said her son was depressed and paranoid. Caron told the court she became more concerned about Tucker’s mental health the longer she talked to him.
Constable Todd Pugh testified Tucker appeared to be normal and even assertive after speaking to the psychiatrist.
