Devin Morningstar admitted to an RCMP officer that he was so scared, he almost killed himself following the death of Baylee Wylie.
Morningstar is being tried on first-degree murder and arson charges in Wylie’s death.
Three days after Wylie’s body was found in a burned apartment last December 17th, Morningstar was interviewed by police officers.
In a video recording played in court, Morningstar told RCMP Sergeant Jim MacPherson that he stabbed Wylie in the neck with a knife three times.
Morningstar said Tyler Noel and Marissa Shepard also stabbed Wylie and Noel’s rage over Wylie was jealousy about the girl.
Court earlier heard that Wylie had been stabbed between 100 and 200 times.
Morningstar told Sergeant MacPherson he had nothing to do with starting the fire.
The trial resumes Monday as the jury has the day off on Friday.
