Testimony from a pathologist has revealed that 18-year-old Baylee Wylie died from multiple sharp force injuries to the neck, chest and abdomen.
Dr. Ather Naseemuddin testified today at the first-degree murder and arson trial for 18-year-old Devin Morningstar.
Naseemuddin told the court Wylie was dead before a fire broke out in the Sumac Street triplex where his body was found last December.
The jury had the opportunity to see a number of items seized from the crime scene including box cutters and a curtain rod.
A rifle was also displayed by an RCMP forensics officer which the court learned was seized during the murder investigation but was not found at the crime scene.
Corporal Patrick Gould also told defence lawyer Robert Rideout that Morningstar’s prints were not on the rifle or on any other sharp objects seized.
Besides Morningstar, Marissa Shephard and Tyler Noel are also facing murder and arson charges in Wylie’s death.
