The fires last month in garbage cans at KV High in Quispamis gave a new safety protocol for Anglophone South school district its first test.
Every school is now using a communication system that can send emails and voicemails simultaneously relating to a crisis where only some did last year.
Superintendent Zoe Watson tells us because the messaging system is now in place she was able to send out a message to all parents at KV High from her desk and let the principal and staff deal with the matter at hand.
She says the principal was very focused on getting the students and staff safely out of the building up along the driveway and into a church and getting buses there to pick the kids up.
Watson tells us they got some positive feedback on how that situation at KV was handled.
