Hopewell Rocks wrapped up its season yesterday, with a record number of visitors.
Property Manager Noel Hamann says it was very fitting the the tourist attraction closed on Thanksgiving day because we have many things to be grateful for.
That includes the number of people who visited the site this year, “We broke an attendance record that had been set in 2002 of 236, 000, but we topped 260, 000 in 2016.”
He credits the beautiful weather and the since the American dollar was higher than ours, it kept many Canadians here.
Hamann says the majority of the visitors were Canadians, with those from Ontario and Quebec leading the way.
They also saw an increase in Asian and European visitors.
