Students at NBCC Campuses across the province will be volunteering in their communities today, which is one of two designated Service Days this academic year.
Coordinator for NBCC Amanda Bent says each student goes out and connects with a project in their community for a few hours, which gives students an opportunity to see the importance and value of volunteering.
Students go out and volunteer their time at places like seniors home or other organizations, or maybe even help clean up the environment at the Loch Lomond watershed.
Bent says every student in every campus and in every course are required to volunteer in order to graduate.
They then reflect on their experience and what they have learned, and it will ultimately go on their transcript.
