Southern Haiti is said to be devastated in the wake of Hurricane Matthew with the damage being compared to the earthquake that struck in 2010. The hurricane is said to be the strongest to hit the Carribbean in a generation.
Florida is now preparing with a state of emergency being declared by Governor Rick Scott. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has also declared a state of emergency. She has ordered the mandatory evacuation of a million people from coastal areas of that state.
Environment Canada has issued a statement saying Matthew is expected to move northward along the eastern seaboard approaching the Maritimes this Thanksgiving weekend but it’s still not known exactly where the storm will track.
