A rash of bomb threats over the last few weeks have been keeping the RCMP busy.
Schools, athletic facilities and public gathering places across the Atlantic provinces have received calls forcing evacuations and extensive searches.
Corporal Jennifer Clark with the RCMP says she can’t remember the last time so many threats have happened during such a short period of time.
“It really affects a lot of people,” she says, “students, the staff, and their families and of course the parents. It’s a lot of disruption for people who are involved and it’s a lot of worry.”
Despite the threats no devices have been found, but Clark says the investigation doesn’t stop there.
“Just to give you a broad example if there were a computer generated call, as has been the case with several of these, that gets followed up. It’s quite a detailed process in order to find out who made the call and what their motivation could have been,” says Clark.
She says they’re working to figure out who is making the calls and once caught they could face serious consequences.
