More than 55,000 New Brunswickers live with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The provincial government has announced funding to promote awareness and early screening and detection for COPD.
Health Minister Victor Boudreau says a $300,000 investment will support some of the regional health authorities’ existing quality improvement plans.
The Department of Health will also continue to explore opportunities for system changes that will improve the prevention and management of chronic diseases.
It’s estimated more than 4400 new cases of COPD will be diagnosed in the province this year.
