The Fundy Regional Service Commission shot down the idea of regional policing but can agreement be reached on a regional recreation plan?
Grand Bay-Westfield Mayor Grace Losier wants to know if there is a willingness on the part of Local Service Districts to cost share. She says based on own history, they are not. Losier is pleased to see willingness on the part of the local service districts to at least discuss a proposed regional recreation plan.
Quispamsis Mayor Gary Clark calls the duplication of recreation services “crazy”. Mayor Don Darling says Saint Johnners are likely not aware that since 1985, the city has spent 24.5 million dollars on the Aquatic Centre.
The local service districts have been told if they don’t cost share recreation, they could face the prospect of having to pay non-resident user fees.
