Brian Gallant announced a $2.9 million dollar investment to expand the Integrated Service Delivery model to 112 schools making mental health, addiction and social services available to children.
Gallant says the program has done some great things where the pilot program was rolled out in Charlotte county and on the Acadian peninsula.
He says it really has demonstrated this approach works by reducing wait times and delivering good services for our youth.
Gallant tells us the government is excited to see this program expand adding they plan to have it in place all over the province by 2018.
The current expansion is to 112 schools from Saint John to Sussex and in the Miramichi and Chaleur-Restigouche regions.
The money will be used to add resources like psychologists, social workers, co-ordinators and case management support.
