Up, up and away. That will be a common phrase over the next few days as the 31st annual Atlantic International Balloon Fiesta is underway.
Tens of thousands of people attend the Balloon Fiesta from all over Atlantic Canada and beyond. Many of them are return visitors to Sussex, because they want to see what new balloons will be featured each year, “We have 29 balloons coming, with Sylvester and Tweety Bird, and they come fromn as far away as Albequerque, all of the United States, as well a few from New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia and across Canada, says Fiesta President Debbie Harris.
She says they have a waiting list for those who would like to be participants in the event.
The balloons fly early in the morning and at supper time, but it depends on the weather. If it is very windy or heavy rain, the balloons will not launch.
The Fiesta is being held September 9th, 10th, and 11th in Sussex
