The provincial government giving a helping hand to tourism on Campobello Island.
Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, John Ames says a $75,000 grant has been given to the Welshpool Community Hall for improvements through the Community Cultural Places Program.
Ames says the Welshpool Hall has served many purposes over the years, that includes a venue for concerts, fairs, community meetings, basketball games, and training courses for fishermen. He says it was also home to the Royal Canadian Legion, and the renowned Sonny Flynn’s Bar & Grill.
He says along with improved stage and main-floor facilities, a deck will be built along the outside wall, and the Friars Bay Development Association is looking to install showers for visiting boaters.
The MLA for Charlotte-Campobello says, “The tourism industry represents a key economic generator for our province. I feel that this project has the potential to be a fantastic draw for tourism in the area.”
