An investigation is underway to find out what caused a fatal collision on Grand Manan which killed a former village councillor identified as 50-year-old Phillip Ells Junior who was driving an off-road vehicle when the crash occurred on Hill Road in Castalia.
Ells was born in Moncton but moved to Grand Manan in 1982 when his parents began operating the Ells Funeral Home. He graduated from Grand Manan High School in 1984 then came to Saint John to apprentice as a Funeral Director and Embalmer, becoming licensed in December 1987 and returning to the family business on Grand Manan.
A funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at the Immanuel Family Church.
