That marks a 5.1% increase year over year, and is $664 higher than the national average.
New Brunswick has the fifth highest average debt out of all ten provinces, second only to Newfoundland in Atlantic Canada.
The age group with the highest amount of average debt is 46-55 at $32,243.
Overall, excluding mortageges, Canadian consumers owe $1.666 trillion, a 6.3% increase year over year.
