It appears an investigation into last week’s explosion at the Irving Refinery may take as long as a couple of months to complete — that’s the word from WorkSafe N-B spokesperson Dino Scichilone who says it will focus on safety and integrity issues – the agency launched its probe after a worker suffered cuts to the face when he was knocked to the ground by the force of the explosion – the contract worker was taken to hospital to be checked out.
The explosion apparently resulted after pressure built up in a small tank while it was being filled — the build up blew the top of the tank off but no fire resulted.
The big bang shook houses and rattled residents in nearby Champlain Heights.
