Common Council is starting to set its direction for the next four years by establishing its priorities.
It wants to have them in place by mid October and there will be broad based engagement with Saint Johnners, including online and phone surveys.
Deputy Mayor Shirley McAlary says it would be useful to have more information on why people choose to live outside Saint John, saying it might be the higher tax rate in the city but then again, it might not be. McAlary says she worked in real estate for over ten years and, during that time, no one ever asked her what the tax rate was.
City Manager Jeff Trail is warning councillors to limit their priorities.
