Drilling for the two new production scale wells on the West side will be taking place this summer with construction expected to be finished by the fall.
That’s according to the project manager for the Safe Clean Drinking Water Project Dean Price who says they’ll be located on a provincially-owned parcel of land just off of the corner of Gaelic Drive and Downsview Avenue.
While there will be some temporary noise for residents while crews are drilling, Price tells CHSJ News the wells themselves won’t be disruptive as they will be inside of a small building. Dean says once they get environmental approval from the province for a wellfield, an already-existing production scale test well will become a permanent fixture.
It’s believed there’s enough groundwater on the West side to supply all of that side of the city which would save the water project up to $45-million, you can find more information about that by clicking here.
The well drilling services will cost a little over $835,000.
