2800 Saint John Energy customers off the grid this morning after a problem with a fuse at the Crown Street substation.
President Ray Robinson says Post Tropical Storm Arthur has left the system weakened and these incidents can happen.
He tells CHSJ News the transformer has been isolated and all customers are back in service.
He adds the damage to the substation is now being repaired.
The outage also impacted traffic lights along Union Street and led to the activation of several fire alarms.
All the power was restored by 11 this morning.
