Arthur did a number on many areas of the province including the town of Rothesay, but residents in the town are getting a helping hand clearing away the debris left behind by the post-tropical storm.
It begins on Monday and will cost the town approximately $3000. Residents are responsible to get the debris to the curb themselves in neat piles.
Rothesay Mayor Bill Bishop tells CHSJ News in order to be better prepared for another major weather event, the town needs to make sure they have heating and charging stations established, upgrade their notification system so residents know when to expect to get power back and work with NB Power to trim the trees in the town
Bishop says as a result of the December ice storm, some tree-trimming was started and just as they were getting ready to enhance it, the storm struck. The power utility announcing last month that it was investing $5.8-million in the annual preventative maintenance program.
