More than 63,000 homes and businesses remain without power in the aftermath of Arthur as of early Tuesday afternoon.
NB Power is asking people without electricity to unplug because the cold load pickup, as it’s called when the power is being brought back, is causing repeat outages and slowing restoration down.
Progress has been made but over 34,000 homes and businesses are still off in the Fredericton area but provincial government offices have reopened.
In the Rothesay cluster, which includes the Kingston Peninsula, Quispamsis, Grand Bay-Westfield and Hampton, over 62 hundred customers are without electricity, 87 hundred in St. Stephen and 17 hundred in Sussex.
The Quispamsis Civic Centre above Fire Station #2 is open until 5 and the Rothesay Arena until 9 tonight for anyone needing to recharge their phones and get fresh water. You’re asked to bring your own water containers.
