The provincial government has published the 2012-13 Student Wellness Survey from data collected from more than 35,000 students in Grades 6 to 12 at 177 schools across the province.
At a provincial level, the new data shows improvements when it comes to young people eating more fruits and vegetables as well as breakfast.
While there has been an increase in the number of students who are spending more than two hours in front of a screen, more students claim they are getting at least an hour of physical activity.
The survey also shows a rise in the number of teens who have tried smoking before reaching Grade 12.
