Two evaluators from UNESCO coming to town to check over development of the Stonehammer Geopark from Lepreau Falls to Norton and from the Fundy Trail to the Kingston Peninsula.
One of the evaluators, Mike Sweeney is from Ireland and tells CHSJ News what he saw was fantastic because you can get up close and personal with geology and fossils that goes back millions of years.
Stonehammer is receiving 100 thousand dollars in provincial fundling for continued development and another 75 thousand dollars to host the 6th International UNESCO conference on Global Geoparks this September in Saint John. Something like 300 delegates from around the world will be attending.
