The Provincial Minister of Government Services Ed Doherty says a request hasn’t been made as of yet, to look into the L-N-G tax concession granted to Irving Oil by Common Council in 2005.
Doherty says should that request be made to see if there should be a change in status, it will handled by the Department of the Environment and he’s waiting on the request from the municipal government.
According to court documents, Irving Oil earns 22 and a half million dollars a year from the L-N-G terminal at Canaport while only paying 500 thousand in property tax.
