There’s no room for profit in health care dollars according to CUPE NB President Daniel Legere, in response to the announcement that the Gallant Government is looking to privatize management of food services in the province’s hospitals.
Legere tells us they’re concerned that some New Brunswickers are going to lose their jobs and that this won’t be the end of things.
He says when they have seen this happen in the past, the first step is that you contract out or give the private sector the management, and usually in couple years they’ve seen the actual service taken over by the private sector.
The government is aiming to have the deal in place by the fall.
