Fisheries Minister Gail Shea announcing that fisherman in Lobster Fishing Area 36 from Campobello Island to St. Martins will be extended by four extra days.
The season usually ends on June 29th but was extended after fishermen requested an extension due to the colder then normal water temperatures which delays the lobster migration.
President of the Fundy North Fishermen’s Association Bradley Small is thankful the extension was approved.
Small says the last week of the season usually provides over half of the year’s catch, which could have resulted in a loss of 50-60 percent of the catch.
