A 58 year old St. Stephen pastor has been ordered to undergo a 30 day psychiatric evaluation after being charged with assault.
RCMP say shortly before 1am yesterday, December 8th, they received a 911 call about a disturbance involving a man and a woman.
The caller told police the man had left the scene. Police were able to locate him a short time later and arrested him.
William Morton appearing in Saint John Provincial Court facing a charge of assault against a 58-year old woman.
She did receive minor injuries during the incident, but did not require medical attention.
Morton is the pastor at the Christ Church Anglican Parish in St. Stephen.
He is scheduled to return to court in early January.
