Video of a witness statement given to police by one of the patients seen with 22-year-old Serena Perry the night she died at the Saint John Regional Hospital being played for the inquest jury.
That patient who we are calling “A” was arrested but later ruled out as a suspect. The jury also hearing that he has passed away and there was no indication of foul play in his death.
In the tape “A” talks about being invited by Serena Perry and another patient who we are calling “B” to go for a walk on the night of her death and “A” says that Serena was acting very strange and he decided to leave.
A says that later on, when B heard the code blue, which is medical emergency, he started to “freak out” seeming uneasy, breathing fast, and his eyes started to tear up.
Both of the nurses who discovered Serena Perry’s body in the amphitheatre returned to the witness stand.
The jury being shown a video clip of Melissa Schima making a police statement where she talked about how the housecoat around Perry’s neck was loose. A video clip of the police statement from the other nurse who discovered Perry’s body, Paula Murphy, was also played and she confirmed that.
The inquest continues on Monday.
