Provincial Justice Minister Stephen Horsman and the Premier’s office have been given an extensive report by the Saint John Police Association on the investigation and prosecution of City Police officer Chris Messer.
Bob Davidson says there are so many disturbing irregularities which include why a prosecution witness was not charged for giving false testimony under oath and why no charges were laid in the drive by shooting of Messer’s home. 9 shots were fired into the house.
As well, Davidson says the prosecution would not disclose to the defense wiretap evidence that might have been pertinent. He adds great damage has been done to Messer which must be addressed starting with a public inquiry.
Davidson says he hasn’t seen anything like it in his 38 year career.
Constable Messer, meantime, is back on the job.
