The provincial government has announced the moratorium on hydraulic fracturing will continue indefinitely.
That word coming from Energy and Mines Minister Donald Arseneault who says creating jobs is the government’s number one priority but not at any cost. He adds the government’s five conditions that have to be met will not be satisfied in the foreseeable future.
Arsenault also points out the global market for natural gas has seen a huge drop in price which makes it unlikely the shale gas industry will make the necessary effort to meet the conditions in the short or medium term.
